The Steps of a Good Man are Ordered by the Lord
Hi, I just wanted to share a quick blessing with you. I love that verse that I used as my title. Ever since we decided to follow the Lord as missionaries, it seems like the Lord has just blessed and blessed. I KNOW He blessed and blessed while we were in the pastorate, but I really believe that many times I was too busy to see the Lord's blessings on a daily basis. I am so glad that He has put us on this road in this new chapter of our lives because we cannot help but see His daily miracles and blessings! So yesterday afternoon between services, we had to go to Wal-Mart. Now we don't normally do the Sunday shopping thing, but this was of GREAT necessity, as I was completely out of motion sickness pills, and 3 of us would desperately NEED them for our drive home. Anyway, we saw a Hastings on the way, and Alan mentioned that he thought that was a bookstore. I said that I remembered it being some sort of music store from my days of living in the U.S. He was looking to buy some good Christian music, so he thought he might give it a try since we had a few hours to kill. Come to find out, it is BOTH a music store AND a bookstore!! So we went in and everyone has their own taste in books, so we kind of paired off and went our separate ways. I don't know how long we had been, but when my feet were aching, I thought I would search everyone out. I ran into Alan who was sitting and reading a book, and across from him was an older man with whom he had been talking. So Alan noticed me and asked me if I was ready to leave. After saying that I was and rounding everyone up, Alan stood up and the man shook Alan's hand. So we left. Just before we got to the doors, Alan turned around and showed me what was in his hand...a $100 U.S. dollar bill!!! I asked him where he got that, and he told me that when the man shook his hand, he slipped him the bill. Apparently during their discussion, the man had asked Alan what he did when he wasn't reading books. So Alan told him that he was a Baptist missionary. The man asked him what kind of Baptist, and Alan told him Independent Fundamental. To which the man replied that he had a cousin in Wisconsin who was an IF Baptist pastor. He went on to say that he was a catholic, but that he realized the difference between his religion and Baptists was the relationship with Christ. Alan really enjoyed visiting with him. The man said that he went there every day and reads about 10 pages a day. And when he handed Alan the money, he told him that he wanted us to have a meal on him. WOW!! Alan felt certain that this generous man was likely saved because of his comments about the different religions. Praise the Lord!!
Well, it is past my bedtime, and I know that Bro. Larry will be up on that roof early in the morning, so I must be on my way.
Love,
Ida
